CONVERSION TRACKING IN PURLEAR, NC

If the counting is wrong, every decision after it is wrong

Google bids toward whatever you tell it to count, so an untracked form or an uncounted call means the account is spending your money on the wrong thing. Careful, tested setup across Wilkes, Watauga, Ashe and Avery, proved with a real lead before the budget opens.

WHY IT IS WORTH DOING

What proper tracking actually gives you

Three things, and the third is the one that changes how much a lead costs. Without tracking you are not running an ad account, you are funding one.

You find out what a lead costs

Not clicks, not impressions, not a quality score. The actual number of dollars it takes to make the phone ring, which is the only figure that tells you whether to spend more or stop.

Calls get counted, not guessed

Most leads for a trade or a practice around here arrive as phone calls. An account tracking forms only is blind to the majority of what it produced, which makes it look like a failure when it is not.

Google can finally bid properly

Automated bidding needs enough real conversions to learn from. Feed it accurate ones and it gets better every week; feed it page views and it confidently spends your budget on the wrong people.

You can see which search paid off

Down to the keyword and the search term, so the money follows what converts instead of what looks busy. That is also where the first round of cuts comes from.

WHY PURLEAR BUSINESSES PICK YALLCLICK

Why small businesses here get us to set this up

Five reasons, and every one of them is something you can verify by sending yourself a test lead.

It gets tested with a real lead, not assumed

A form is filled in, a call is placed, and both are watched arriving in the account before the budget is opened. A surprising number of accounts have tracking that was installed and never once checked.

Only real leads are marked as the goal

Page views, clicks on a number, scroll depth and newsletter signups get recorded but not counted as the thing the account bids toward. Mixing those into the primary goal is the most common way smart bidding gets poisoned.

Calls from the ad and from the page both counted

The call button on the ad and the number on the landing page are two different conversions and both get set up. Tracking one and not the other undercounts your leads and makes the account bid too low.

GA4 set up so you can read it

The property configured for a service business rather than a shop, with the events that matter named in plain language. So the reports answer where the calls came from instead of how many sessions bounced.

Set up by the person who has to use it

Whoever runs the account has to trust the numbers. When the same person installs the tracking and spends the budget, there is nobody to blame and nothing left vague.

WHAT WE FIX

What we usually find when we check an account

Tracking fails quietly, which is what makes it expensive. These four turn up in most accounts that have been running a while.

Conversions counting the wrong thing

A button click, a page view, or every visit to the contact page. The number looks healthy, the phone does not ring, and nobody can work out why the leads do not match the report.

Phone calls not tracked at all

The main way people buy from a local business, missing from the account entirely. Every decision made on that data has been made on a fraction of the truth.

The same lead counted three times

A thank you page that can be refreshed, a tag firing twice, or a form and a call from one customer both counted. Inflated conversions make a bad campaign look worth scaling.

A tag installed years ago and never checked

A site redesign, a new form plugin or a changed thank you page breaks tracking silently. The account keeps spending and the conversions quietly stop arriving.

HOW IT WORKS

How tracking gets set up

Four conversions, in this order, and nothing goes live until each one has been seen arriving. It is a couple of hours of work that decides the next year of spending.

STEP 1

Work out what counts as a lead

A booked call, a quote request, a form, a text. Not everything a visitor can click. The list is agreed with you first, because a conversion you would not be pleased to receive should not be in there.

STEP 2

Forms to a thank you page

Every form sent to its own confirmation page, with the conversion firing on that page rather than on the submit button. It is the most reliable way to count a form and the easiest to verify yourself.

STEP 3

Calls from the page and from the ad

A tracked number swapped in for visitors who arrived from an ad, plus the call asset on the ad itself, with a sensible minimum call length so wrong numbers and hangups are not counted as leads.

STEP 4

Prove it, then set the goals

A test lead of each type, watched into the account. Then the real leads are marked as the primary goal and everything else as secondary, so the bidding learns from leads and nothing else.

How this is paid for

Conversion tracking is part of taking on or building any ads account here rather than a separate line item, because running an account without it is not something worth charging for. If all you want is the tracking fixed on an account somebody else manages, it is quoted on what your site and CRM actually need, since a simple WordPress form and a multi step booking system are not the same job. Either way you own every account involved: the ads account, the Analytics property and the tag.

Rated 5 out of 5

“I couldn’t be happier with the website he created for my business. He took the time to understand exactly what I needed, made the whole process super smooth, and delivered a site that looks professional, clean, and perfectly aligned with my brand. Communication was great the entire time, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything turned out right. I highly recommend him if you want quality work and someone who genuinely cares about the final product.”

“Hello, my name is Joel Gray, and I’m the Pastor of the Vision Baptist Church in Millers Creek, NC. The church was interested in getting a new website that would accommodate the ministry in allowing people to obtain information about the church. Chris has accomplished this goal for us through the website he created. Now people can gain knowledge of the church, listen to preaching, and order printed literature (KJV only) such as tracts and booklets free of charge. Thanks to Chris, we’ve already had some orders for printed literature from the website. To God be the Glory, and thank you Chris for the service you provide!”

WHERE WE DO THIS WORK

Where we set this up

Tracking is the same job wherever the business is, but what counts as a lead is not. A restaurant in Blowing Rock and a plumber in Millers Creek need different conversions marked as the goal. Each place below has its own page.

QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED

Straight answers about tracking

These are the questions owners ask once they realize the report and the phone do not agree. Anything else, bring it to the call.

Not on its own. The question is what those conversions are. Plenty of accounts count a click on a phone number, a visit to the contact page or every form on the site including the newsletter. The number looks fine and the bidding is learning from the wrong behaviour. The only way to know is to send a test lead and watch where it lands.

Usually double counting. A thank you page that still fires when somebody refreshes it, a tag installed twice, or one customer who filled the form and then phoned being counted as two. It matters because inflated conversions make a losing campaign look like one worth putting more money into.

Not strictly, but it is worth having. Google Ads tells you what the ads produced. GA4 tells you what people did on the way there and where the rest of your traffic is coming from, which is how you tell whether the ads are adding leads or just taking credit for calls you were going to get anyway.

Your real number stays everywhere. A tracked number is only shown to visitors who arrived from an ad, and it forwards straight to the same phone. Nobody else sees it, your printed material is unaffected, and the number on your Google profile is left alone because changing that would do real damage.

Not by us beyond what you already collect yourself. What gets recorded is that a lead happened, which ad and search it came from, and how long a call lasted. The enquiry itself goes to you and your CRM exactly as it does now, and nothing sensitive is put into the ads account.

The reporting is honest from day one. The bidding takes longer, because automated bidding needs a run of real conversions before it has anything to learn from, usually a month or two in a small account. The immediate win is that you stop paying for keywords that have never produced a lead, and that can be done the week it is set up.
